Vande Bharat sleeper train set to be a reality soon, may run on this route


Travellers who love to take a journey via Indian Railways, their wait is over for the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. According to sources, the Ministry of Railways is preparing to launch the Vande Bharat Sleeper version on Indian tracks as early as next month.

However, the exact route is yet to be finalised, and sources suggest that the train could operate on either the Delhi-Howrah or Delhi-Mumbai corridor.

The final decision is expected from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Roadmap, specifications

The Ministry of Railways has floated tenders for 200 Vande Bharat trains. Of these, 120 trains have been awarded to a consortium of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Russian firm Transmashholding (TMH).

The remaining 80 sleeper trains have been awarded to a joint venture between Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Titagarh Wagons (now Titagarh Rail Systems).

The sleeper trains are designed to run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h, with test speeds reaching up to 180 km/h.

Here key highlights of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains:

Each Vande Bharat Sleeper train will consist of 24 coaches

Compartments/Coaches: AC 3-Tier, AC 2-Tier, and First AC classes.

A dedicated pantry car will also be included, similar to the Rajdhani Express
