Two labourers bludgeoned to death, contractor held for murder | Pune News

HOURS AFTER a 56-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both labourers, were found bludgeoned to death in Talawade area of Pimpri Chinchwad, the police have arrested their 49-year-old labour contractor for the murders. Probe has revealed the murders were the fallout of a dispute over illicit relationship.

Dehu Road police have identified the deceased as Mangala Tembhre (30), who hailed from Amravati district, and Jagannath Sarode (56), who hailed from Akola. Both had moved to Pune to work as labourers. Later during the day on Wednesday police arrested their labour contractor Dattatray Laxman Sable (49), a native of Ahilyanagar district.

Around 3 am on Wednesday, the police received information about two persons lying unresponsive in a pool of blood behind an underconstruction building in Talwade. Initial observations suggested that the two had been murdered with multiple blows from blunt objects like rocks.

Based on the initial information, Tembhre and Sarode were identified. Multiple teams were formed to probe various leads. “Initial investigation suggested that the deceased had a dispute with their labour contractor over illicit relationship. A manhunt was launched for the contractor Sable. He was arrested from the Chikhali area while he was trying to flee to his native village in Ahilyanagar,” an officer from Dehu Road police station.
