The Sun Group, which also owns Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad and SA20 team Sunrisers Eastern Cape, has acquired Northern Superchargers— a side that represents Yorkshire in The Hundred competition.

The Sun Group has purchased 100 per cent of the team and will take operational control of the club from October 1, 2025.

Northern Superchargers is the third team in The Hundred competition to be acquired by an investor linked to the IPL. While RPSG Group, which owns Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, owns 70 per cent of Manchester Originals, Delhi Capitals co-owner—GMR Group—has a 49 per cent stake in Southern Brave.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians owner—Reliance Group—is set to acquire 49 per cent of Oval Invincibles.
