Shilpa Shetty Kundra made headlines on July 10 as she attended the teaser launch of KD – The Devil, where she shared a surprising and emotional anecdote about how she came on board for the gangster drama. The actress revealed that she was on a wheelchair, recovering from a fracture, when the makers narrated the story to her — a narration that instantly changed her mind.

“Initially, I was caught up with other work, and had not intended to do KD – The Devil. I had suffered an injury and was on a wheelchair after shooting for an action sequence for Rohit Shetty’s film. The makers of KD – The Devil were quite clear to cast me for the role,” she said.
Shilpa went on to share how the team’s insistence and the film’s strong plot eventually won her over. “Because they were so insistent, my manager suggested me to hear the narration and then decide. I was on the wheelchair when they were narrating the film. Upon hearing the narration, I stood up from the wheelchair without realizing that I had suffered a fracture. And I reacted, saying ‘Mujhe ye film karni hai’. After hearing the full narrative, I gave a nod to the film.”
The teaser of KD – The Devil, which dropped recently, offers a first look at Shilpa in a retro-inspired avatar. She plays the role of Satyavathi, a character set against the gritty and dramatic backdrop of 1970s Bangalore. The film marks a shift in tone and genre for the actress, who has been seen exploring a variety of roles in recent years.
KD – The Devil is a period action drama inspired by true events. Directed by Prem and produced by Suprith under the banner of KVN Productions, the film promises high-octane storytelling set in a turbulent era. Alongside Shilpa, the film features a multi-star cast including Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Nora Fatehi, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, and V Ravichandran in key roles.
A pan-India release, KD – The Devil will be released in five languages — Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi — aiming to reach audiences across the country with its gripping narrative and ensemble cast.
