Shefali Jariwala was fondly known as the Kaanta Laga girl. The actress and model was a pop culture diva, and her appearance in the song back in 2002 made her an overnight star. Sadly, it was on June 27, 2025, that she passed away in Mumbai, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest. Shefali was married to Parag Tyagi since 2014, but before the 42-year-old actress was married to Meet Bros fame, Harmeet Singh. Now, Shefali’s current husband, Parag, has completed her last rites at Oshiwara, and her ex-husband, Harmeet, in his tribute, expressed grief at not being able to be on her final journey.

Shefali’s ex-husband, Harmeet, is a music composer and is known for chartbuster tracks such as Main Tera Boyfriend, Baby Doll, Pink Lips, Radhe Radhe to name a few. It was in 2004 when the ex-pair tied the knot and separated in 2009 when their marriage hit a rough patch. A while back, Harmeet took to his Instagram Stories and shared that her demise was one of the most shocking moments of his life. He has been absolutely shattered and in disbelief after hearing about Shefali’s sudden and untimely demise. Shefali’s ex-husband, Harmeet’s note read:
“We shared a few beautiful years together a long time ago-memories I will always hold close to my heart. My deepest condolences to her parents- Satish ji and Sunita ji, her husband Parag and her sister Shivani. Being away in Europe right now, it’s painful for me not to be able to be there for the last rites. Gone far too soon. I pray to the Almighty for her soul to rest in peace, and strength to the family during this unimaginable time. Jai Shri Krishna.”
Harmeet Singh remembers meeting his ex-wife, Shefali Jariwala, a few years back
A report by journalist, Vicky Lalwani also revealed that Harmeet shared of going to Bangladesh for a show three years ago. His ex-wife, Shefali, along with Sunny Leone, was present. All of them came back together in a private aircraft, and Harmeet, Shefali sat next to each other. He reportedly spoke about having a long conversation with her. In his words:
“Apart from that, I did meet her at a few events and parties where I remember we both wishing each other warmly.”

Heartfelt tributes and condolence messages have been pouring in for Shefali from the industry. Manmeet Singh, who was Shefali’s former brother-in-law, also wrote an emotional note for the late actress, where he expressed disbelief over the passing away of the actress. Manmeet’s note read:
“Rest in peace, Shef. Only god knows why he called you back so soon… Will always cherish the amazing moments spent with you… May Waheguru be with you on your onward journey.”

Shefali and Harmeet separated in 2009 after she reportedly had filed an FIR against Harmeet at the Oshiwara Police station as she had cited mental as well as physical abuse. She reportedly had accused Harmeet of taking Rs. 12 lakh from their joint account without her knowledge. Shefali had said:
“It is very important to understand that you are not being appreciated. Not every kind of violence is physical. There is a lot of mental violence that also happens, and you are very unhappy in your life.”
