Refused more servings of chicken and Chinese food, Mumbai man attacks wife | Mumbai News


The Mumbai police Wednesday arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly trying to kill his wife after she could not serve him chicken and Chinese food for dinner. The man, identified as Ajay Arun Dabhade, reportedly hit his wife, Swati Dabhade, 37, with a rod on her head during the altercation.

The incident reportedly took place on July 3 at the couple’s residence in Trombay Koliwada. According to the Trombay police, the woman sustained head injuries and was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital, where she received treatment. Her condition is now stable.

The Trombay police are investigating the matter.

In her complaint to the police, Swati stated that when the family was having dinner on July 3, Dabhade asked her to serve him more chicken and Chinese food. “Swati told him that she could not serve him more as the food was over,” a police sub-inspector said.

Enraged by her response, he allegedly picked up an iron rod and hit her on the head. After her recovery, she approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

Following her complaint, the police charged Dabhade under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (assault), and 3(5) (common intention), and arrested him.

The police also booked his mother for allegedly supporting her son.

According to the police, their investigations have also revealed that Swati filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws on June 1 this year on charges of dowry harassment.

“Dabhade had been pressuring her to withdraw the case against him and his family. Swati has alleged that Dabhade was also angry at her as she refused to bring Rs 5 lakh from her father’s house to run his money-lending business,” another police officer said.
