U.S.A.’s most popular and fictional family, The Simpsons, has entertained people for nearly four decades. This animated show has featured as many as 36 seasons. All the characters of this dysfunctional family have also been loved by fans across generations. However, the finale of season 36 shocked viewers with its depiction of ‘Marge Simpson’s death. For the unversed, ‘Marge’ is the mom character in the ‘Simpson family’. Now, as reports suggest that the show has been extended to 40 seasons, fans wonder if her character will return or not.
‘Lisa and Bart Simpson’ lose their bond in The Simpsons Season 36
In the season 36 finale of The Simpsons, titled ‘Estranger Things’, viewers get a glimpse into the family’s future. The sibling duo, ‘Lisa and Bart Simpson,’ have drifted apart and are estranged in the future. The two older siblings loved watching a show, Itchy and Scratchy and bonded over it. However, after finding out that their younger sister ‘Maggie’ also likes the show, they stop watching it. Which leads them to lose their bond. ‘Marge’ is dismayed by this and asks them to lean on each other in the future; however, they do not heed her advice. The mother says to them:
“Whatever you do, don’t drift apart. You share a journey with your siblings no one else will ever understand. Don’t ever, ever take that for granted.”
Death of ‘Marge Simpson’ in the future
Even though a teary-eyed ‘Marge’ asks her children to stay together always, both ‘Lisa’ and ‘Bart’ have drifted apart in the future. This is revealed to the audience with a glimpse of the future. In the scene set in the future, a shocking revelation is made to the viewers about the death of ‘Marge’. The song A Mother’s Heartbreak plays in the background as her friends and family mourn over her grave, which reads, “Beloved Wife, Mother, Pork-chop seasoned.” Even though estranged, ‘Bart and Lisa’ finally reconcile over their shared grief. And ‘Marge’s’ happy soul watches this scene from heaven.
Will ‘Marge Simpson’ be back for the upcoming seasons?
Fans of the show were upset after the death of the ‘Simpson’ matriarch. However, several reports suggest that the character of ‘Marge’ has not been completely written off, and she will return for the upcoming episodes. It is also interesting to note that future events depicted on the show do not interfere with the current storyline. For example, the future depicted in the episode ‘President Lisa’ was set aside and did not result in any significant change to the overall premise of the show. Similarly, it is safe to assume that the death of ‘Marge’, though heartbreaking, would not affect the upcoming seasons of The Simpsons.
