Orlando Bloom definitely knows how to laugh at himself, especially when the internet tries to drag him into his ex’s rumored new fling. For days now, Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau have been making headlines, with the internet convinced the two are a thing after being spotted on multiple outings, including Trudeau attending Perry’s concert. All this comes just days after Bloom and Perry announced the end of their decade-long relationship. So when a satirical site tried to twist the narrative and brought former German Chancellor into the mix, Bloom couldn’t resist responding.

Orlando Bloom reacts to Katy Perry romance buzz
On Saturday, satirical site The Onion posted a fake headline claiming Orlando Bloom had moved on as well, this time with none other than former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The made-up story had it all: candlelit dinner, oysters, chocolate cake, and a ridiculous insider quote saying Angela had him laughing all night. “Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” it read, alongside an AI-generated image of the two at a dinner table, wine in hand. The post added, “Angela kept Orlando laughing all night, he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!” But instead of brushing it off or getting annoyed, Bloom dropped a quick “👏👏👏” in the comments, fully in on the joke.

After announcing their split, Bloom and Perry were spotted spending time together with their five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, whom they welcomed in 2020. The pair said they were parting ways on good terms, no drama. However, just days later, Katy and Justin Trudeau were spotted not once, but twice, in Montréal on July 28. First, they grabbed dinner and drinks. Then the next day, they were seen walking a dog through Mount Royal Park before heading to Le Violon, a swanky local spot for dinner. And two days later, Trudeau was caught vibing in the crowd at her concert, mouthing the lyrics like he’d been a fan for years. Trudeau, who officially split from his wife, Sophie Grégoire, last year, seems to be settling into his post-politics chapter. Perry, meanwhile, called off her decade-long engagement with Bloom in early July. A Canadian source told People there’s real chemistry: “They’re attracted to each other,” adding they’ve got plenty in common, “idealistic, optimistic, and still trying to make the world a better place.”
Despite the breakup, reps of Bloom and Perry said, the ex-couple is on the same page about parenting and “will continue to be seen together as a family.” As for Trudeau, he’s reportedly staying cautious. Another source said he’s used to living privately and is not one to show off a new relationship until it’s serious. “He knows people are watching,” the source said, “so he’s being low-key about it for now.”
