Kabir Bedi and his relationship with Parveen Babi was the most-talked-about affair in Bollywood. Their love brewed at a time when he was having issues with his first wife, Protima, and they had decided to be in an open marriage. While Protime was in love with a French Guy, Kabir found solace in the arms of Parveen Babi. But they had an ugly breakup after hints of Parveen’s mental health were visible, and he asked her to get herself checked. After years of her shocking demise, Kabir Bedi recalled how he once met a year before her ‘alone death’.
Kabir Bedi recalled the last meeting with Parveen Babi
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kabir Bedi recalled his last meeting with Parveen Babi before a year of her demise. He revealed that Parveen was back in India, and he was also in India, when he met her at a hotel. She was sitting by the poolside, and he met her and asked about her well being. Kabir said:
“Waha Parveen ko dekha vo pool ke pass baithi thi. Or us waqt uski bahut criticism ho rahi thi, kyunki usne us waqt Amitabh Bachchan par aarop lagaye the, and press was saying she was mad, extra. Jab mai mila she said, ‘Hi Kabir.’ I said, ‘Hi Parveen. How are you?’ She said, ‘I am fine, but people think I am mad.’ I said, ‘Parveen don’t worry about what people say everybody have their opinion what is mad what is not.’ (changing his expression) ‘You are also one of them, you also think I am mad.'”
After talking about how people think she is mad, Parveen thought that Kabir also thinks the same, so she asked him to leave her. Recalling the moment, Kabir stated that he was in pain seeing her in that way, but he was statisfied that she was financially stable and had a started a nice career as an interior designer. He said:
“Or mujhe jana pada waha se. I was very sad, par mujhe is baat ki tasali thi ki financially vo settled thi, unke pass ek makaan tha, ek career shuru kar rakha tha as an Interior designer. And she was not wanting for anything. Ek saal baat vo guzari toh mujhe wakayi bahut dukh hua. Mai janta tha ki kitna usne saha hoga, jhela hoga, suffer kiya hoga.””

Parveen Babi was the most gorgeous actress of her time, but her superstardom destroyed her inner well-being, and she was diagnosed with serious mental health problems. Things turned so ugly for Parveen that she not only had to create a safe distance from the glamorous world but also did not leave her home. At the age of fifty, she passed away at her home in 2005.
There wasn’t anyone who claimed her body for three days, and people found out about her death after she had not picked up her newspaper and groceries. In an interview with Digital Commentary, Kabir was asked if the rumours of him attending Parveen’s last rites with the other two men (Mahesh Bhatt and Danny) she was in a relationship with were true. Kabir replied:
“Hum sab the, sabne kandha diya. Bahut dukh ki baat thi.”
