Jasprit Bumrah to play fourth Test against England: Mohammed Siraj

Jasprit Bumrah will feature in the fourth Test against England at the Old Trafford, his fellow India pacer Mohammed Siraj confirmed.

Jassi bhai toh khelenge hi (Bumrah will definitely play). That’s what I know,” he said.

After a long break, Bumrah had a long bowling session in the nets and the centre wicket on Monday. While he looked quite comfortable, Bumrah was seen discussing a thing or two with India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir after they had a look at the surface, which looked a bit damp due to incessant rain.

With a host of injuries plaguing the Indian team, the news of Bumrah’s availability would have come as a whiff of fresh air. Earlier in the day, the BCCI confirmed that Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the Test series with a knee injury, while Arshdeep Singh, too, was unavailable for the Old Trafford game.

Akash Deep, who picked up a groin injury, had short sessions, under the watchful eyes of bowling coach Morne Morkel.

“Akash Deep has a groin issue, and the physios are examining it. He bowled in the morning as well, but we are yet to get feedback from the physio,” Siraj said.

However, team sources indicated that the fast bowler is likely to sit out as he is yet to recover completely.
