IPL: Bharat Arun appointed bowling coach of Lucknow Super Giants

Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has been appointed as the bowling coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The announcement was made on Thursday.

LSG took to social media platform X to share the news. “A promising Indian attack, and Bharat Arun guiding them. We can’t wait to get started,” the post read.

In a statement, Arun said: “It’s an honour to join the Lucknow Super Giants, a franchise that reflects professionalism, ambition, and vision at every level.

“What excites me most is the vision for long-term development. LSG has invested in a young, talented, and dynamic group of Indian fast bowlers — Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Akash Singh — and I see immense potential in each of them. My mission is to help shape them into a cohesive, fearless, and tactically sharp pace unit that can challenge the best batting line-ups in the world.”

Arun began his coaching journey with the Tamil Nadu domestic team and later became the chief bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He also served as head coach of the India Under-19 team, which won the U19 World Cup in Australia in 2012 under his guidance.

As a player, Arun represented India in both Tests and ODIs, and enjoyed a successful domestic career with Tamil Nadu.

The 62-year-old joins LSG after completing a four-year stint as bowling consultant with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he played a key role in the team’s successful 2024 IPL title campaign. He was also part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru coaching staff between 2015 and 2017.
