After making a name for herself in the film industry, Sridevi bought her first property in her hometown of Chennai. Now, the property is a cherished family home where her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor often return to spend time together. Earlier, Janhvi had given a tour of their Chennai home, which holds many memories of the late legendary actor. Let’s take a detailed look at the house.
Two spacious living rooms adorned with artifacts collected from all over the world
In the house tour that Janhvi gave to Vogue, she was seen entering the house from the side door, which opened into a beautiful living space. Right after entering, the vintage vibe of the home is immediately apparent, as the house is heavily decorated with large paintings and artifacts collected over time from around the world. The rooms are completed with vintage chandeliers that set the lighting and mood of the space.

Alongside the maximalist aesthetic used to decorate the home, cozy corners have been thoughtfully created. The house features giant sofas that take up most of the living area. Janhvi also offers a peek inside her father’s part of the house, which she says is adorned with “10,000 photos of us.”

Janhvi then takes us into the second living room of the house, which also has giant sofas. The background wall is all white with gold detailing. She also shows a painting by artist Subhash Awchat and an artifact that Sridevi brought from Bali. The house also decorated by paintings crafted by Sridevi herself.

Boney Kapoor made it a mission to redo Sridevi’s home after her death in her memory
Talking about the property, Janhvi shared that the house had to be remodeled after Sridevi’s death due to leakage and disrepair. She said, “It was the first property that mom ever bought. It was very different when she bought it. She decided to do it up after she got married to dad and travelled all over the world and found these interesting art pieces, paintings, and textiles, and it. Then after couple of years, the house because of leakage and other complicated things started disintegrating and then we had to redo it after she passed. Dad made it like his mission to redo it in her memory so that we could come here and spend time in the house.”
Janhvi shared that Boney didn’t let Khushi and her see the house while he was remodeling it and only unveiled it on Khushi’s birthday. She said, “It was big moment because we grew up here and we hadn’t been here since mom had passed.”

Memorabilia wall adorned with multiple family photographs
Janhvi then takes the interviewer to the first floor of the house. The wall along the staircase is adorned with numerous photographs of their family and extended family. Janhvi shared that it was Sridevi’s idea to create a memorabilia wall. It also has a rare photo of Boney and Sridevi’s secret wedding that took place in Shirdi. The couple kept it quiet for some time, revealing it only when Sridevi was pregnant.

Separate TV room, a big gym, and a Greek-style inspired bathroom
Janhvi then takes us to the first floor where she shows a glimpse of the huge terrace, which is decorated with plants and offers a welcome break from the concrete jungle. She also shows her spacious gym, which she called her sanctuary. She then offers a peek inside a beautifully cozy bathroom that features a glass ceiling and stone sinks, adorned with stunning paintings and lamps.
