India issued a strong-worded rejection late Saturday after Pakistan’s military accused it of orchestrating a deadly suicide bombing in the restive region of North Waziristan. The blast, which tore through a Pakistani military convoy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulted in significant casualties and has further strained bilateral relations.
“We have seen an official statement by the Pakistan Army seeking to blame India for the attack in Waziristan on June 28,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.
It added. “We reject this statement with the contempt it deserves,” the ministry added, condemning what it sees as an unfounded attempt to externalise Pakistan’s internal security failures.”

Suicide Bomber Targets Military Convoy
The attack unfolded when a suicide attacker rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a convoy of Pakistani military personnel in the North Waziristan district, according to a local official.
“A suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a military convoy. The blast killed 13 soldiers, injured 10 army personnel and 19 civilians,” the official told reporters, speaking on condition of anonymity.
According to a statement from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the assault was claimed to have been carried out by a group identified as Fitna-al-Khawarij. The incident was reported by The Dawn, which also noted that no other group had taken direct responsibility at the time of publication.
Attack Follows Recent Anti-Terror Operations
The timing of the suicide bombing has raised concerns, coming just days after two Pakistani soldiers were killed and 11 suspected militants were neutralised in an intelligence-based operation in South Waziristan. While Islamabad’s internal security operations continue in tribal regions bordering Afghanistan, the government’s swift move to blame India has drawn criticism for lacking evidence.
