In a rare and deeply personal account, Ibrahim Ali Khan has opened up about one of the most traumatic moments in his life – the night his father, actor Saif Ali Khan, was stabbed. Speaking to GQ Magazine, Ibrahim recounted the sequence of events and his emotional breakdown following the incident, offering a glimpse into a harrowing family experience.
Ibrahim Ali Khan recalls thinking of “worst-case scenario” after Saif Ali Khan’s hospitalization in stabbing incident: “I wish I had been there”
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, left a lasting impact on Ibrahim. “He was stabbed around 2:30 a.m. and I was informed at 5:30 a.m. I hadn’t slept that night and I rushed to see him. He had just come out of the ICU after surgery,” recalled Ibrahim, who was working a night shift at the time.
What followed was an emotionally charged moment between father and son. “He opened his eyes, spoke to Sara [Ali Khan] for a bit, and asked for me. I was so happy; I said, ‘I’m right here, dad.’ And then he said, ‘If you were there, you would’ve beaten that guy up.’ That made me weep,” Ibrahim said. “I wish I had been there.”
The young actor also spoke about the overwhelming fear that took over when he first heard the news. “At one point, when I heard he got stabbed, I started to think of the worst-case scenario. That’s a very scary feeling. It was bad; it was very scary.”
Addressing public speculation around the incident, Ibrahim also clarified certain misconceptions: “To everyone saying I drove him to the hospital with my baby brother, I would like to clarify that my dad walked into the hospital himself. He walked in with a knife stuck in him and said, ‘I need help.’”
On the work front, Ibrahim Ali Khan is gearing up for his upcoming film Sarzameen, set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 25, 2025.
