Home sales across nine major cities in India are estimated to fall by 19 per cent to 94,864 units during the April–June quarter, due to weak demand and limited supply, according to real estate data analytics firm PropEquity.

In its report released on Sunday, PropEquity stated that housing sales in the second quarter of the current calendar year are expected to drop to 94,864 units, compared to 1,16,432 units during the same period last year.

Housing sales dip below 1 lakh unit mark for the first time in 4 years

PropEquity Founder and CEO Samir Jasuja said, “This is the first time since Q3 2021 (July–September) that housing sales have fallen below the one lakh unit mark.

Supply has also remained below one lakh units for the fourth consecutive quarter.” During the April–June period, new housing supply is estimated to have declined by 30 per cent, from 1,17,208 units to 82,027 units.

Bengaluru sees 6% drop in home sales

According to the data, home sales in Bengaluru are expected to fall by 6 per cent to 14,676 units in April-June this year, compared to 15,582 units in the same period last year.

Residential property sales in Hyderabad are expected to decline by 20 per cent to 11,815 units from 14,704 units. Home sales in Mumbai may drop by 34 per cent to 8,006 units from 12,114 units.

Sales in Navi Mumbai are expected to decrease by 17 per cent to 6,833 units from 8,224 units.

Thane sees 34% drop in home sales

Home sales in Thane are expected to fall by 34 per cent to 14,832 units from 22,512 units. Sales in Pune may decline by 27 per cent to 17,196 units from 23,429 units.

Home sales in Kolkata are expected to drop by 8 per cent to 4,449 units from 4,826 units.

In contrast, sales are expected to rise in Delhi-NCR and Chennai. Home sales in Delhi-NCR may increase by 16 per cent to 11,703 units from 10,114 units.

Residential property sales in Chennai are expected to grow by 9 per cent to 5,354 units during April-June 2025, compared to 4,927 units in the same period last year.
