Yukta Mookhey and Priyanka Chopra both made India proud on the global stage of the Miss World pageant. The former won the title in 1999, and just a year later, Priyanka was also crowned as Miss World. It was a proud moment for India as the title was won back-to-back by the nation’s beauties. Even in the film industry they debuted one after another, with Yukta in 2001 and Priyanka in 2002, that too coincidentally in Tamil films. However, recently Yukta has made people wonder that perhaps there is no love lost between the two models-turned-actresses.
Yukta Mookhey calls Priyanka Chopra a junior and says ‘nothing’ to appreciate about her
Yukta Mookhey, who won the Miss World title a year before Priyanka Chopra, was asked in an interview with Filmymantra about a trait that she appreciates about the latter actress. To this, Yukta shockingly replied and said, ‘Nothing’. The reason she cited for this answer was that, Priyanka was her junior and was the one who was taking advice from Yukta. She feels that there were things for which she guided Priyanka. Yukta also said that the Barfi actress was not the right person about whom questions should be asked to her. The model said in the interview:
“Nothing. Because she is junior to me. She was the one taking advice from me. Because she was in the following year after me. I personally feel that there were things that I guided her for, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents. I don’t think she is the right person for you to ask me at this moment.”
Yukta Mookhey praised Juhi Chawla and took a dig at Priyanka Chopra
Yukta Mookhey said that Juhi Chawla spoke very kindly to her when they met after she won the pageant. The model stated that Juhi was the kind of person who doesn’t look at you as competition or a threat. Yukta stated that Juhi had complimented her on her looks and advised her to consider going international. The former Miss World also said that winning the title of Miss India or World does not make everything happen. She said:
“I remember Juhi Chawla spoke to me after I won and came back and she spoke to me very kindly. She said you are so beautiful and so tall, you carry yourself so well, think about going international. So those are the kind of people I am talking about, who don’t look at you as competition. They don’t look at you as a threat. They look at you as someone who is a junior, or like ‘I might be able to teach them something’, and that requires a lot of greatness. Sirf Miss India ya Miss World title milne se cheezen nahi hoti.”
