The stock market opened on a cautious note with the BSE Sensex slipping 39 points to hover near the 83,400 mark. The Nifty50 remained muted, trading below 25,500 amid global tariff concerns following US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s remarks on upcoming tariffs from August 1 on countries yet to finalize trade agreements with the Trump administration.
At the latest, the Sensex stood at 83,328, down 105 points or 0.13%, while the Nifty50 fell 50 points or 0.20% to 25,411. Broader markets also faced pressure, with the Nifty MidCap and SmallCap indices declining 0.29% and 0.50%, respectively.
Among gainers, Godrej Consumer rose 5%, and Senco gained 3%.
IPO Update:
Travel Food Services opens for subscription on the mainboard, while Crizac IPO allotment will be finalized today. In the SME segment, Vandan Foods, Cedaar Textiles, Pushpa Jewellers, and Silky Overseas are set to list today. Meanwhile, Happy Square Outsourcing and Cryogenic OGS IPOs will close for subscription, Meta Infotech IPO enters its second day, and Smarten Power Systems and Chemkart India IPOs open subscriptions.
