FASTag Annual Pass: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday, 18 June, 2025, announced a new FASTag-based annual pass plan for private vehicles. FASTag Annual Pass is exclusively designed for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, the ‘pass’ will be valid for one year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier). 

This pass is introduced to reduce waiting time and avoid disputes at the toll. Nitin Gadkari also mentioned that the implementation of this pass will reduce the financial burden on highway users by bringing down the annual toll cost.

Introducing FASTag Annual Pass?

FASTag Annual Pass is exclusively designed for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, the ‘pass’ will be valid for one year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier). 

Charge for FASTag Annual Pass?

The FASTag-based Annual Pass is priced at Rs 3,000. The Annual Pass will enable seamless and cost-effective travel across National Highways throughout the country.

FASTag Annual Pass launch date

Effective from 15th August 2025. The pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first. 

Where can you get FASTag Annual Pass?

A dedicated link for activation and renewal FASTag Annual Pass will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra App as well as on the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH. 

Who can apply for FASTag Annual Pass?

The pass is available exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Please note that if the pass is used on commercial vehicles, it will deactivate. 

What is validity of Annual FASTag?

The pass is valid only at National Highway and Expressway fee plazas. On toll plazas under state highways or local authorities, FASTag will function normally, and standard toll rates will apply.

Will Annual FASTag be mandatory?

The ministry clarified that the ‘pass’ is not mandatory; it is optional. The usual FASTag will continue to work.

Do you have to get new FASTag?

There is no need to purchase a new FASTag to avail of the annual pass. It can be linked with the existing tag, subject to eligibility.

Will FASTag change, or will new pass be given?

Those who are already using FASTag will not have to buy a new one. The pass will be active only on those tags that are properly affixed to the vehicle and linked to the vehicle registration. 

Once the Annual Pass completes either 200 trips or one year from the date of activation, it will automatically revert to a regular FASTag. To continue using the Annual Pass benefits, the user will need to re-activate the Annual Pass to get 200 trips / 1-year validity
