The central government launched the FASTag annual pass to make toll payments easier for frequent highway travelers. The pass, priced at Rs. 3,000, allows up to 200 trips a year, whichever comes first.

Where pass works
The annual FASTag pass is valid only on highways and expressways maintained by NHAI. Major national highways included are NH 19 (Delhi-Kolkata), NH 3 (Agra-Mumbai), NH 48 (North-South Corridor), NH 27 (Porbandar-Silchar), NH 16 (Kolkata-Eastern Coast), NH 65 (Pune-Machilipatnam), NH 11 (Agra-Bikaner), and NH 44 (Srinagar-Kanyakumari).

It also covers expressways like Delhi-Mumbai, Eastern Peripheral Road, Mumbai-Nashik, Mumbai-Surat, Chennai-Salem, Mumbai-Ratnagiri, Delhi-Meerut, and Ahmedabad-Vadodara.
Where pass doesn’t apply
The FASTag annual pass is not valid on state-managed highways. Users will need to pay tolls from their regular FASTag balance on highways not managed by NHAI. Examples include the Yamuna Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, and Bundelkhand Expressway.
NHAI reported that over 5 lakh passes were sold in the first four days. Tamil Nadu led in annual pass purchases, followed by Karnataka and Haryana. The highest number of transactions were recorded at toll plazas in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
How Annual Toll Pass works
The Annual Toll Pass is a prepaid facility allowing private vehicle owners-cars, jeeps, and vans-to pay a one-time fee for up to 200 toll crossings on NHAI-managed highways and expressways. Each pass costs Rs 3,000, making it a convenient option for frequent travellers.
