ENG vs IND, 5th Test: Why is Jasprit Bumrah not playing the fifth Test against England?

Jasprit Bumrah will not take part in the fifth and final Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, with Prasidh Krishna taking his place in the side.

The Indian pacer was only slated to take part in three of the five matches in the series, and after bowling a mammoth 33 overs during the fourth Test in Manchester, it remained to be seen whether Bumrah would be fit to feature at The Oval.

The Indian team management had indicated that a call would be taken on Bumrah right before the match after considering pitch and weather conditions. However, skipper Shubman Gill announced at the toss that Bumrah would be replaced by Prasidh Krishna.

The change is one of three that India makes ahead of the final Test. The composition of its pace attack is now Anshul Kamboj, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna, with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar to make up the spin attack.
