Earthquake jolts Delhi-NCR region | Zee Business

Earthquake Today Delhi-NCR: Strong tremors were felt across Delhi and the NCR region on Thursday morning. More details are awaited.

In the wake of strong earthquake tremors felt across Delhi-NCR, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has issued a public advisory urging citizens to follow essential safety precautions.

Before an earthquake, residents are advised to consult structural engineers to ensure their homes are earthquake-resistant, repair deep cracks in walls and ceilings, fasten shelves securely, and keep heavy objects on lower shelves. Keeping an emergency kit ready and establishing a family communication plan are also recommended. Citizens should also familiarise themselves with the “Drop, Cover, Hold” technique.

During an earthquake, the NDRF urges people to stay calm, drop under a sturdy table, cover their heads, and hold on until the shaking stops. Lifts should not be used, and people are advised to move away from buildings, trees, and poles if outside. Those inside vehicles should pull over in an open space and remain inside.

After the quake, the advisory warns against entering damaged buildings. In case someone is trapped under debris, they should avoid lighting matches and instead signal for help by tapping on pipes or walls or using a whistle. Staircases should be used instead of elevators.

The NDRF also urged citizens to share the safety guidelines widely and stay alert for official updates.
