Rain Waterlogs Delhi, Noida
On Wednesday, intense rains led to waterlogging and traffic congestion at multiple locations in the capital, including Arvind Marg, G K Marg, Rail Bhawan, Akshardham, Ashram, ITO, Pul Prahladpur, MB Road, MG Road, Old Rohtak Road, Shadipur, Madhuban Chowk, and NH-8.
While no alerts were initially in place during the early hours, the IMD upgraded the weather warning to an orange alert by afternoon, and later issued a “red” alert in the evening, signalling the need for heightened vigilance and preparedness.
According to the IMD’s latest forecast, moderate to heavy rain is likely at many places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and winds gusting up to 50 km/h. An eastward-moving cloud cluster is expected to fuel the intense weather activity throughout the evening.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors, avoid sheltering under trees, stay clear of weak structures, and avoid venturing near water bodies.
The maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 35.6°C, slightly below normal, while the minimum settled at 26.4°C. Relative humidity ranged between 81% in the morning and 58% by evening.
The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 81, placing it in the “satisfactory” category, as per Central Pollution Control Board data.
