Ather Energy is set to make a bold move in the Indian electric two-wheeler market with the unveiling of its all-new EL scooter platform and a host of concept models at its annual Community Day 2025, scheduled for August. While the exact date remains under wraps, the company has promised game-changing updates that could significantly widen its market reach.
EL Platform: Ather’s entry into the affordable EV space?
Ather’s EL platform is expected to be the cornerstone of its upcoming offerings, designed to be versatile, cost-effective, and scalable. This move signals Ather’s entry into the sub-Rs 1 lakh segment—a price range it has so far avoided, unlike rivals such as Bajaj, TVS, Ola Electric, Vida (Hero) and Greaves, all of whom offer budget-friendly models. The EL platform is likely to power both production models and concept vehicles set to debut at the event.
Faster Charging: Next-generation Ather grid on the way
The company is also working on the next-generation Ather Grid fast chargers, which will further enhance convenience and reduce downtime. The current Ather Grid allows charging at 1.5 km/min for Ather scooters and 1.2 km/min for Vida scooters (thanks to Ather’s open-sourced connector). The upcoming upgrade is expected to deliver even quicker charge times and broader compatibility.
Ather Stack 7.0: Major software upgrade incoming
Ather will also debut Ather Stack 7.0, its latest operating software, during the event. This update is expected to bring enhanced features, better connectivity, and possibly new smart functions to Ather’s growing range of electric scooters.
Building on past success
At last year’s Community Day, Ather launched the Rizta, its first family-oriented scooter, which has now crossed 1 lakh sales. The 2025 edition of the event could be another defining moment, marking Ather’s shift toward a more inclusive product portfolio and aggressive market positioning.
