Asia Cup 2025: What happened last time India faced Pakistan in a T20I? 


India and Pakistan will face off in an important clash in Group A of the Asia Cup 2025 on September 14. India comes into the match in good form, having thrashed UAE in its opening match of the tournament, while Pakistan is also looking to continue its winning momentum, having easily defeated Oman. 

When was the last time India played Pakistan?

The last time India and Pakistan played in any format was in the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai, the same ground the two will face off at on Sunday. India secured a comfortable six-wicket victory on its way to winning the competition.

Batting first, Saud Shakeel was the only batter to cross 50 as Pakistan struggled for rhythm against an impressive Indian bowling unit. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with 3-40, while Hardik Pandya also took two. 

Virat Kohli then led the chase, scoring an unbeaten century along with supporting knocks from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer as India cantered to a simple victory.

When was the last time India played Pakistan in a T20I?

India and Pakistan last faced off in a T20 match during the 2024 T20 World Cup, with India coming out on top in a low-scoring thriller in New York. 

India was put into bat, and struggled for momentum, with only Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel able to cross 20. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah picked up three wickets apiece, as India limped to 119 all out in 19 overs.

However, India produced a stunning bowling to suffocate the Pakistani batters. Jasprit Bumrah finished with extraordinary figures of 3-14 from his four overs, while Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel all picked up wickets as well. Muhammed Rizwan produced a turgid 31 from 44 balls as Pakistan struggled to get close to the target, and finished six runs shy of India’s total.
