A woman accused in a honeytrap case was Wednesday arrested from the office of the Haryana State Commission for Women in Panchkula on the chairperson’s orders.
The woman, identified as a resident of Gurugram, was brought to the commission’s Sector-4 office in Panchkula by the Gurugram and Faridabad police for questioning.
Based on the evidence presented during the inquiry, chairperson Renu Bhatia ordered her immediate arrest.
Reportedly, the woman tried to flee the office upon learning about the arrest order, but police officials apprehended her just outside the premises.
According to the commission chairperson, the woman is accused of blackmailing a man and his family by threatening to falsely implicate them in a rape case.
Sources said that she allegedly demanded money and repeatedly created disturbance at the man’s residence. During interrogation, the accused admitted her actions, which further strengthened the case against her. Despite her confession, she went to the victim’s house again on Wednesday morning and created a scene, reportedly trying to exert psychological pressure, as per an official of the Panchkula administration.
The commission revealed that the accused woman, who poses as a property dealer, has been involved in multi-crore property dealings without possessing valid identification. CCTV footage related to these activities has been submitted to the commission. Further, it was disclosed that the woman has not gone to her home for the past 12 years.

Analysis of chats and call recordings retrieved from the mobile numbers provided by the woman indicated that this was not a rape case but a planned honeytrap operation. The commission has confiscated the woman’s mobile phone, which will undergo forensic and technical analysis by the Faridabad police. An investigation into her family background and criminal history is also underway.
At present, the Panchkula Women Police Station has taken the woman into custody and is in the process of handing her over to the Faridabad police for further investigation. A deeper probe into her past activities is also being initiated.
Chairperson Bhatia reiterated that while the commission is committed to protecting the rights and safety of women. It will not hesitate to take action against anyone who misuses the law to falsely implicate others.
