Ludhiana West Assembly Bypolls: Counting of votes for the bypoll on the Ludhiana West Assembly seat is underway. In the latest trends, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sanjeev Arora is leading while Congress’s Bharat Bhushan Ashu is trailing. BJP’s Jeevan Gupta and Advocate Parupkar Singh Ghumman from Shiromani Akali Dal are also trailing.
In the trends, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sanjeev Arora has received 2895 votes. At the same time, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu has received 1626 votes, while BJP’s Jeevan Gupta has received 1177 and Shiromani Akali Dal’s Paropkar Singh Ghumman has received only 703 votes.
The bypoll on the Ludhiana West Assembly seat has been very interesting this time. A total of 14 candidates were in the fray in this 2025 bypoll, while only 8 candidates had contested from this seat in the 2022 assembly elections. This time, Sanjeev Arora from Aam Aadmi Party, Jeevan Gupta from BJP, Bharat Bhushan Ashu from Congress, Advocate Parupkar Singh Ghumman from Shiromani Akali Dal, and a long list of other parties and independent candidates have made the contest multi-stage and interesting.
These include NLSP, Sada Party, as well as several independent candidates like Albert Dua Anu, Gurdeep Singh Kahlon, Neetu, Engineer Paramjit Singh Bhraj and others.
Ludhiana Bypolls Held On June 19
This bypoll was completed on June 19 (Thursday), while the counting is taking place today (June 23). Prior to this, the notification of the election process was issued on May 26. The last scrutiny of nominations was on June 3 and the last date for withdrawal of names was June 5.
Ludhiana West is an urban seat and it is one of the 117 assembly seats of Punjab, which is located in Ludhiana district and Malwa region. There is no reservation on this seat.
