Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (June 22) said that he had a conversation with the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, during which he urged for de-escalation and dialogue.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the recent escalations and underlined the importance of restoring peace and stability.
“We discussed in detail the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations,” Modi said.
During the discussion, PM Modi reiterated India’s consistent stand in favor of immediate de-escalation and stressed that dialogue and diplomacy are essential for resolving tensions. He also called for the early restoration of regional peace, security, and stability.
He stated, “Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability.”
The conversation comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with India closely monitoring developments and maintaining its outreach to key stakeholders.
