Prithvi Shaw scores hundred on Maharashtra debut in Buchi Babu Tournament 2025

Prithvi Shaw struck a century in his first innings since switching allegiance from Mumbai to Maharashtra on the second day of the opening round of the Buchi Babu Tournament 2025 in Chennai on Tuesday.

Shaw’s hundred against Chhattisgarh came in 122 deliveries and included 14 fours and one six. The 25-year-old had joined Maharashtra earlier this year amidst concerns around his form and fitness. He had been dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad last season and wasn’t picked for its Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign.

Though he was a part of Mumbai’s victorious Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign last season, his returns with the bat (197 runs in nine matches) were far from impressive. In November last year, he had also gone unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the first time ever.

“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years,” Shaw had said in a statement after joining Maharashtra.
