16-hour Op Sindoor debate: From Rajnath Singh to Rahul Gandhi — the MPs set to speak in Lok Sabha | India News

The second week of the Monsoon session of the Parliament began on a stormy note Monday, even as the Lok Sabha geared up for a 16-hour discussion on Operation Sindoor. The Opposition sought an assurance from the government  on a debate on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls (SIR) in Bihar soon.

Lok Sabha has been adjourned thrice till 2 pm amid the ruckus, with Opposition MPs entering the Well of the Lower House. Speaker Om Birla repeatedly reprimanded the behaviour, saying: “Do you not want the discussion on Operation Sindoor?”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to initiate the “special discussion on India’s strong, successful and decisive ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam”, while Congress Deputy Leader in the LS Gaurav Gogoi is to speak first from the opposition camp today, sources told The Indian Express.

‘Oppn running away’: Rijiju

Amid the repeated adjournments, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the opposition was running away from a discussion on Operation Sindoor, a debate they have been pressing for since the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Ahead of proceedings on Monday morning, Rijiju requested the Opposition, “especially the Congress”, to not participate in a manner that could harm national interests. They should not “speak Pakistan’s language”, he added.
