Shubman Gill on Sunday scored a century during the fifth day of the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford in Manchester.
This was Gill’s fourth hundred in the series, which ties him with Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli for the most hundreds by an Indian in a series.
Gavaskar had achieved the feat twice, both times against West Indies, in 1971 and 1978. Kohli got four tons during India’s tour to Australia in 2014/15.
Gill also tied Don Bradman, for the most hundreds in a series by a captain. Bradman had reached the three-figure mark during the Ashes in 1947/48 in Australia.
During the innings, Gill also became the third Indian batter after Gavaskar and Yashasvi Jaiswal to register 700 runs or more in a series.
