Coaches defaced, Kolkata Metro launches manhunt | Kolkata News


After a series of incidents in which Metro properties were defaced in Kolkata, the authorities on Wednesday warned of serious legal actions.

On Wednesday, a video of CCTV footage went viral in which a man, clad in a blue t-shirt and jeans, is seen defacing the closed doors of a compartment of a running Metro train.

Recently, the doors of a Metro coach was defaced with black spray paint.

“As the pride of Kolkata, the Metro’s image has been tarnished by this act, deeply hurting the sentiments of its users and admirers,” the Metro said in an official statement.

“We urge everyone to refrain from such damaging activities within Metro premises. With extensive CCTV surveillance installed in both rakes and stations, identifying offenders is straightforward, and legal action will be swiftly taken against anyone caught engaging in such misdeeds,” it added.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Police sources said the Metro Railway authorities have approached the force to help them identify the offender.
