Content Creators Beware! Centre To Initiate Crackdown On ‘Anti-India Content’ On Social Media Soon

The Central government is gearing up to take strict action against those spreading anti-India content on social media. Individuals sharing videos or posts that promote “hatred” against the country will no longer go unchecked. According to sources, the Ministry of Home Affairs is preparing a new policy aimed at tackling such activities.

Social media handles found involved in anti-national acts will be blocked, and stringent action will be taken against them.

Officials have revealed that not just social media, but several websites are also being used to upload such content. A nationwide crackdown is expected soon. The new social media policy is currently being drafted.

Senior intelligence officials briefed the parliamentary committee of the Home Ministry on the matter. They also informed the panel that a special national-level monitoring team is being formed to curb the online activities of anti-India elements, including Khalistani separatist terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.

It is still not clear what would constitute “anti-national” content. The policy is expected to clearly define this and address existing grey areas.
