Ashadha Ekadashi Trains: Indian Railways to operate special services in Maharashtra, Telangana


South Central Railway (SCR) on Thursday declared that it will run three special train services to cater the expected surge in passenger traffic during the auspicious occasion of the upcoming Ashadha Ekadashi festival.

The government will run these trains for a single journey on specific dates to connect passenger to their destinations, pilgrimage centres or important towns, including Maharashtra and Telangana.

Here is the list of these train details along with routes, timings, key details:

  • Nanded – Adilabad (07010)
  • Jalna – Akola – Jalna (07011/07012)

1. Nanded – Adilabad Train

The first special train (07010) will start from Friday, July 4, 2025, and will operate between Nanded and Adilabad. The passenger train will depart at 11.30 and take seven hours to reach Adilabad (Telangana) station the next day at 4.30 am

During its journey, the Nanded-Adilabad train will stop at stations such as Mudkhed, Bhokar, Himayatnagar, Sahasrakund, Bodhadi Bujrug, and Kinwat. For travellers, it will be equipped with different coaches like AC II Tier, AC III Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class.

2. Jalna – Akola Train

Another special train (07011) to be operated by the SCR is scheduled to run from Jalna to Akola on the same day, July 4, 2025. This train will depart from Jalna at 9 pm and will take 8 hours & 30 minutes to arrive in Akola at 5:30 am the next morning. It will be covering several stations: Partur, Selu, Manwat Road, Parbhani, Purna, Basmat, Hingoli, and Washim. Similarly, this train also offers accommodation in AC II Tier, AC III Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class.

3 Jalna – Akola Train

In the reverse direction, the third train announced by the government is 07012, which will run between Jalna and Nagarsol. This train is scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2025, and will depart from Jalna at 11:30 am, reaching Nagarsol by 3:20 pm on the same day. On its route, the train will stop at Aurangabad, Lasur, and Rotegaon stations.

Extension of special trains to manage rush

Moreover, SCR also extended services of two existing special train services to manage the ongoing rush of passengers.

The train (07131) which is currently operating between Tirupati and Narsapur, will now continue to run every Sunday from August 3, 2025, until March 3, 2026.

Similarly, in the reverse route (07132), the train which runs between Narsapur to Tirupati, will continue to operate every Monday during the same extended period, from August 8, 2025 to March 30, 2026.

Ashadha Ekadashi, also known as Devshayani Ekadashi/Hari Shayani Ekadashi, is an important Hindu festival observed on the eleventh day of the bright half of the Ashadha month (the fourth month in the Hindu calendar). The day marks the beginning of a four-month holy period called Chaturmas, during which it is believed that Lord Vishnu enters a deep divine rest.

On this occasion, devotees observe fasting, offer prayers, and visit temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu to seek blessings.
