Chemical Tanker Blast At Hyderabad’s Sigachi Chemicals Kills 10

Telangana Chemical Tanker Explosion: A chemical tanker blast at Sigachi Chemicals in Hyderabad on Monday has killed at least 10 people. Further details on the incident couldn’t be provided immediately. Sigachi Industries had recently opened a news Research & Development Centre in Hyderabad.

The explosion occurred at the Sigachi Chemicals in Pashamailaram Industrial Estate in Sangareddy, Medak district, after a reactor burst during operations. The fire spread rapidly, putting several workers at risk. Two fire engines and multiple ambulances, including personnel from the 108 hotline, rushed to the site. The incident comes just around two months after a catastrophic fire concerning an oil tanker was narrowly avoided in Cherlapally.

The oil tanker suddenly went up in flames while parked dangerously close to trucks carrying LPG cylinders.

The incident unfolded along Cherlapally Road, where the tanker had been stationed beside several vehicles loaded with highly flammable LPG cylinders. According to officials, the blaze broke out after the tanker’s battery exploded, triggering panic in the area and raising fears of a massive fireball if the flames had reached the gas-laden trucks.

Thanks to the swift response from local emergency services, tragedy was averted. A fire engine from the Cherlapally fire station arrived within minutes, bringing the flames under control before they could spread further. Firefighters acted decisively, not only extinguishing the tanker fire but also spraying water on the LPG trucks as a safety measure.
