At one point in the interview, Abhishek talked about Sarkar (2005), which starred him and his father, Amitabh Bachchan. Incidentally, that film completes 20 years on July 1. He shocked the readers by claiming that Big B shot for the film for just 10 days! The information shocked the viewers as the mega star was the leading man in the political drama.

Abhishek Bachchan said, “I still remember watching the edit of Sarkar with Ramu (director Ram Gopal Varma) in his editing room for the first time. As the film was over, I just went out, I called dad, and said, ‘I’ve just seen the edit. You have no idea what you’ve done.’ Do you know, I think he shot for just 10 days on that film? There you go! That’s the impact he has, just 10 days and you never feel the lack of his presence even in scenes where he’s not there.”

He continued, “That’s the power of his performance. It took one shot in the opening of the film where he’s sipping tea and he just looks up. No dialogue, nothing, just the way Ramu composed the shot and the way he performed the shot. It sums up the character right there for you and the power he wields. Sarkar will always be the brilliance of Dad, without much to do, without many dialogues. In the second half, I tried to imbibe that as we are slowly showing Shankar transitioning into becoming Subhash Nagre.”

At another point, Abhishek Bachchan talked about Guru (2007), which is considered a flawless performance and also his finest acts ever. Abhishek confessed, “If given the opportunity to do the film again, I can unequivocally say that I can do a much better job today. Having said that, I don’t compare my movies or treat this as a benchmark to other movies because every film is different. But if Mani (director Mani Ratnam) gave me the opportunity to do Guru scene by scene, shot by shot again today, 100 per cent, I’d do a much better job for him.”
