Sara Ali Khan, like many other Bollywood stars and star kids, has constantly been trolled for her choice of films, body of work and at times also for her looks. The actress became raw, candid and shared that trolls have not just impacted her, but it has also affected her mother, Amrita Singh. For the unversed, Sara is the daughter of Saif Ali Khan, Amrita Singh and also has a brother, Ibrahim Ali Khan. Indeed! Being a Bollywood star comes with its share of ups and downs.

Sara Ali Khan shares how her mom, Amrita Singh, gets affected when she is trolled

Sara Ali Khan sat down for an interview with Instant Bollywood and revealed that she did learn the art of handling trolls and social media scrutiny, but her mother, Amrita Singh, was affected by the same. Sara shared that people will not stop writing about her, even though it is wrong, but she cannot do anything about the same. In her words:

“Wrong karke kya kar loge. Aap rok doge. Koi likhna bandh kardega. It’s very wrong. I feel very bad. My mom feels bad when she reads about it. What will I do about it? I can’t change it. I can feel bad, but you just have to move on. I think we talk so much about scrutiny, social media, and other people’s opinions. Like, really, what is the point? What can we do?”

Sara Ali Khan shares that her mom, Amrita Singh, taught her to be thick-skinned

Sara did express that she was fine being criticised, as it surely helped her in being a better actress. However, trolling does affect a person on a mental level, and she is immune to the fact that it happens most with celebrities. However, her mother has taught her the art of being thick-skinned and shared:

“It’s not gonna change. You just have to be thick-skinned. Mom’s new vocabulary is thick-skinned. You know, the only thing I actually care about is you. Like I care that you’re reading this. It is a give and take at home. She is like,’ It’s going to be okay’, and I am like, ‘You know, it should be fine reading this.’ I think kam tavajju doh, that’s it. What else?”

When Sara Ali Khan revealed that people forget the pain they inflict when they troll her

Earlier, in an interview with the Times Now Digital, Sara shared that she was being trolled was dehumanising in a way, as the audiences at times forget that at the end of the day, she also is a human. The Kedarnath actress also shared that her mother, Amrita, has to swallow a hard pill seeing her daughter being targeted. Sara showed off her real side in the interview, sharing:

“When you’re ripping someone apart, that’s painful because you don’t really know me or my hardships. My mom knows, my family knows… My mom gets upset seeing those. She’s an actress, and so am I, but at the end of the day, it’s Maa-Beti.”

The actress also mentioned that the real challenge she faced was not trolling but the fact that one created self-doubt. However, with time, she has learnt the art to let go and not get bothered by what people think is right and wrong for her.
