7th vs 8th Pay Commission DA Comparison Table: A pay commission is an occasion for lakhs of central government employees when their salary is revised. It may give a notable jump to their monthly payouts, helping them maintain their lifestyle, achieve financial goals, and boost their retirement benefits.
While a pay commission is formed once in a decade and there is no change in the basic pay of employees for the next 10 years, their overall payout keeps increasing thanks to dearness allowance (DA) revision.
DA is revised twice a year, helping employees beat inflation.
The DA increase is done as a percentage of the employee’s basic pay.
If the basic salary in a pay commission rises, the DA amount automatically rises.
As the 8th CPC has been announced, what can be the revised basic pay and DA amounts for Level 3-10 central government employees?

How DA works for employees
DA is calculated on the basis of basic salary. So, if your basic pay is Rs 30,000 and the DA rate is 50 per cent, you will get Rs 15,000 in the form of DA. If DA increases to 55 per cent, the DA amount will rise to Rs 16,500 from Rs 15,000. Here’s how salary will look-
When DA was 50 per cent- Rs 30,000+Rs 15,000= Rs 45,000
When DA is 55 per cent- Rs 30,000+Rs 16,500= Rs 46,500
Fitment factor for 8th Pay Commission
The fitment factor will be known once the 8th Pay Commission recommendations are implemented. Many projections and experts suggest that it can be in the range of 1.92-2.86.
