A 36-year-old man working as medical representative and his two daughters aged 10 and four were killed after the bike they were riding on was knocked down by a dumper truck in Baramati town of Pune district on Sunday morning.
Police have identified the deceased as Onkar Rajendra Acharya, a resident of Morgaon Road in Baramati and his two daughters Saee and Madhura.
Police have arrested the driver of the dumper truck who has been identified as Dashrath Dattatray Dole.
Police said that Acharya and his daughters are survived by his wife Aruna, parents Rajendra and Shailaja and his younger brother Amol (33), who lives in Pirangut area with his family.
An FIR in the case was registered by Amol at Baramati City police station on Sunday night.

Police said that the incident took place when Acharya was returning home after picking Saee from her school where she had gone to attend a programme.
A police official said, “Acharya had picked up his elder daughter Saee from MS Highshcool in Baramati. Younger daughter Madhura was also with them on the bike. When they took a turn at Khandobanagar, their bike was hit from behind by a dumper truck. Primary investigation suggests that the truck was overtaking a vehicle. All three persons on the bike fell down and sustained critical injuries. They were rushed to Silver Jubilee Hospital in Baramati where they were pronounced dead.”

Inspector Vilas Nale of Baramati City police station said, “We have arrested the driver of the dumper truck. He has been charged for rash driving and causing death due to negligence.”
Police said that both of Acharya’s parents are retired teachers while his wife runs a medical shop.
Baramati MP Supriya Sule expressed grief over the accident in a post on X.
“In a tragic accident that occurred in Khandobanagar, Baramati, a father along with his two young daughters lost their lives, an incident that is deeply heartbreaking and distressing. We offer our heartfelt tributes to Onkar Acharya, Saee, and Madhura, who lost their lives in this tragedy. We all share in the grief that has befallen the Acharya family due to their passing,” she wrote.
